Roland Carta

Architect / Founder
Baaum - Carta

Roland CARTA, born in Digne-les-Bains, trained at the Marseille School of Architecture in the studios of Paul Nelson and later A.J. Dunoyer de Segonzac in the 1970s, and completed his education at the Aix-en-Provence Institute of Business Administration, from which he graduated in 1979.

Building on the practice founded by his father, Gabriel, who died during his studies, he developed an agency that has, over the years, become one of the largest in France. His work spans private commissions and major public facilities projects (healthcare, education, culture, infrastructure) in France and internationally. Deeply attached to his Mediterranean roots, shaped by the history of this civilisation and aware of its contribution to the idea of the city, he has forged a personal path grounded in responsibility, pragmatism, professional ethics, exchange and openness to others. He devoted the latter part of his career to the urban and architectural renewal of Marseille, a city with which his name is closely associated.

A board member of the Mutuelle des Architectes Français for 30 years, he is a full member of the Académie d’Architecture. Committed to supporting artistic creation—as a collector and patron—he is President of the Espace de l’Art Concret, a National Art Centre in Mouans-Sartoux.

Bernard Reichen

Architect / Urban Planner / Founder
Baaum - Reichen

Bernard Reichen graduated from the École Spéciale in 1965. In 1973, he co-founded Reichen et Robert with Philippe Robert. Through the transformation of the Leblan spinning mill in Lille and the Grande Halle de la Villette in Paris, the practice gained an international reputation for the conversion of industrial complexes. From Nestlé’s headquarters in the former Menier chocolate factory to more recent projects such as the Cité du Cinéma in Saint-Denis and the Grands Moulins de Pantin, this momentum around reuse has been developed to better integrate emerging approaches to sustainable development: the “reuse” of territories, buildings, materials and resources. Reichen et Robert & Associés, founded in 2004, now works across the full range of architectural and urban practices. Building on these foundations, Bernard Reichen has developed a logic of “articulation between scales”, from architecture to the challenges of “city-territories”, integrating the dynamics of new urban mobility. The Paris tramway, “Deux Rives” in Strasbourg, the SCoT and Route de la Mer in Montpellier, the Saint-Jean–Belcier district in Bordeaux (Euratlantique), Bas-Chantenay in Nantes, “L’Union” in Roubaix, as well as major projects in Rabat, Casablanca and Tangier, are the laboratories for this approach.

For this work, Bernard Reichen received the Grand Prix National de l’Urbanisme in 2005. He has taken part, and continues to take part, in numerous institutions: the National Commission for Historic Monuments / the Paris Surroundings Commission / Europan’s Scientific Council / the Steering Committee for the Construction Plan / the ANRU drafting committee, etc.

He is a member of the Académie d’Architecture, an Officer of the Order of Arts and Letters, and a Knight of the National Order of the Legion of Honour.

Stephan Bernard

Management / Architect / Partner
Baaum - Bernard

Stephan Bernard obtained his DPLG architecture degree from Marseille-Luminy in June 1999. A Franco-Swiss architect born in 1972, he gained a broad range of professional experience in practices in Paris (J.M. Wilmotte) and Switzerland (Zurich, Lucerne). A dedicated practitioner with a keen interest in building craft and detailing, he focuses on composition and on the languages of an architecture marked by restraint yet defined by a strong identity - reflecting the quality and best practices of well-designed spaces. In 2001, he joined C+T Architectures and, over the years, led numerous major projects. It was therefore a natural step that, during the restructuring of the practice in 2009, Roland Carta offered him the role of Associate Managing Director of the new entity, Carta Associés. In 2021, following the merger of Carta Associés and Reichen et Robert & Associés, Stephan Bernard became Managing Director of Carta - Reichen et Robert Associés.

Marc Warnery

Management / Architect / Partner
Baaum - Warnery

A Swiss and French national, Marc Warnery graduated in architecture from the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) in 1998. The polytechnic environment of EPFL, combined with studies under widely recognised and experienced architects such as Luigi Snozzi, Patrick Berger, Yves Lion and Patrick Mestellan, enabled him to develop an integrated understanding of techniques, materials, urban planning and architecture. These four dimensions remain central to his approach to architectural projects and, in synergy with the methods intrinsic to Carta - Reichen et Robert Associés, they shape a renewed architectural language and discourse, firmly rooted in their time. Marc Warnery became a partner at Reichen et Robert & Associés in 2004. In 2020, together with Stephan Bernard, he initiated the merger with Carta Associés, which took effect in 2021. He is currently President of the practice. In addition to his role as President, he manages the Urban Planning and Urban Development Studio.

Director of HMW / Member and President of the WRP Foundation / Managing Director of Reichen et Robert & Associés International Morocco & Switzerland / Registered with the French National Order of Architects, Luxembourg, and the Swiss Society of Engineers and Architects.

Ludovic Bisi

Associate Engineer / Site Management
Baaum - Bisi

The grandson and son of a building contractor from the Drôme, Ludovic BISI was born in the Rhône Valley. He studied at La Martinière in Lyon and completed his training with Campenon-Bernard Région. He went on to build experience across all production roles, from crew leader to project manager responsible for cost estimating, delivery and the sale of complex works. He pursued his passion for major construction sites—bridges and other civil engineering structures—for six years, before joining a subsidiary of the Vinci group, where he ran a production centre. Ludovic joined the Carta practice in 2009 to lead projects in the healthcare sector in particular, driven by his interest in architecture and site delivery. Since 2015, he has headed the site and construction economics studio within the practice.

Frédéric Caudoux

Architect / Head of Competition Studio
Baaum - Caudoux

An architect with 23 years’ experience, Frédéric graduated from the École d’Architecture de Bretagne in 2000. He first worked for four years with Manuelle Gautrand and Odile Decq, before joining Reichen et Robert & Associés in 2005, where he became the lead for façades on the rehabilitation of the Grands Moulins de Pantin.

He then took on mixed-use projects such as the Gare du Sud scheme, a competition win in 2011, comprising a multiplex cinema, retail, public facilities at ground level, and housing above a four-level underground car park. He further broadened his experience through projects abroad, notably in Morocco, including a block within the Cité de l’Air on the ANFA site in Casablanca (45,000 m² of offices and housing), two blocks within the urban redevelopment of Tangier Port for a congress and hotel hub, and a residential block of 11,000 m².
As his role developed, he led both public and private commissions, including the Fondation d’Art Contemporain de l’Habitation Clément in Martinique. Frédéric is also Director of urban projects, notably for the ZAC des Docks in Saint-Ouen-sur-Seine and, more recently, for the architectural and landscape upgrading of the SYCTOM energy recovery facility in Saint-Ouen.

In 2013, Frédéric became a partner at Carta - Reichen et Robert Associés.

Samantha Drouard

Architect / Head of Studio
Baaum - Drouard

Samantha Drouard graduated from ENSA Marseille in 2008 and gained her HMONP qualification in 2009, enabling her to act as lead architect in her own right. Keen to broaden her studies, she spent a fifth year at EPFL (École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne), where she attended the Lacaton & Vassal Architectes studio.

She built her experience over several years in different practices before joining Carta Associés in 2012, now Carta, Reichen & Robert Associés. For more than ten years within the practice, she has developed solid experience in coordinating all project stages.

Committed to an architecture in which use and generosity are central, she enjoys shaping spatial frameworks with both sensitivity and rigour to create spaces that support wellbeing.
Her approach to architecture is decidedly social and engaged, and it is naturally that, for several years now, she has turned towards complex projects.

Agnès Defer

Architect / Head of the Design Development and Construction Studio
Baaum - Defer

Graduating from the École d’Architecture de Paris-Belleville in 2003, Agnès Defer joined Carta – Reichen et Robert Associés in 2006. As Head of the Design Development and Construction Studio, Agnès leads projects across a wide range of programmes: housing, offices, public-access buildings, healthcare facilities and eco-districts. She is involved in all phases, from concept through to delivery, with particular attention to architectural quality and environmental performance.

Houyame Mourchid

Architect / Partner / Director of the Morocco Office
Baaum - Mourchid

Houyame MOURCHID completed all her studies in France, graduating in architecture from the École Nationale Supérieure de Bretagne in 2006, followed by a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from the Institut National des Sciences Appliquées (INSA) in Rennes in 2007.
Thanks to this dual academic background, and through her studies with widely recognised and experienced architects such as Bernardo SECCHI, Jacques FERRIER and Pablo ORTUZAR, she developed an integrated understanding of techniques, materials, urban planning and architecture.
These four dimensions remain central to her approach to architectural projects.

Houyame MOURCHID further strengthened this training through four years of collaboration with Atelier du Canal from 2007 to 2011. In parallel, and since 2007, she has worked as a lecturer and design studio tutor at the École Supérieure de Bretagne, and currently at the National School of Architecture in Rabat.

Following this rich experience in the Rennes area, Houyame MOURCHID joined Reichen et Robert & Associés.
Rapidly, through a close working relationship with Bernard Reichen, she took on architectural as well as urban planning projects and oversaw international projects through the practice’s international subsidiary. Since February 2023, she has been an associate architect at Carta - Reichen et Robert Associés.

She has developed the practice by enabling a two-way exchange of skills and knowledge between Rabat and Paris, and by assembling cohesive teams working on a range of projects at an international scale within Reichen et Robert International.
Each project and theme contributes to an overall approach.
Through the methods intrinsic to Carta - Reichen et Robert Associés, she seeks to bring a renewed architectural language and discourse. In this way, she engages with projects across a wide range of fields, including public facilities, housing, offices, adaptive reuse and urban planning.
