The City of Marseille was selected as a host city as part of the bid for the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, to stage the sailing competitions.
The Paris 2024 Bid Committee established three core principles: quality, spectacle, popular celebration, and, finally, legacy.
The project proposes a series of sequences organized in a radial manner around the basin, evoking the symbolism of a nautical arena. It breaks down the program into several autonomous units, linked together by projecting roof elements and walkways, drawing on a maritime vocabulary within an overall functional coherence.
The project’s layout thus responds to the need to establish a harmonious relationship between the buildings and their environment, enhancing the site’s potential, its topography, functionality, and visual connections, toward a scenographic presentation of the Marina’s water basin.
