Construction of the new head office of the Office Public de l’Habitat de la Communauté Urbaine de Bordeaux (Aquitanis) in the ZAC (mixed development zone) des Berges du Lac.
Creating the head office of a subsidised-housing operator constitutes a very special symbolic act. That is because, for the public and for the operator's various partners, the building needs embody and reveal Aquitanis's “values”. It must project a “soft” symbolism on several levels:
- the urban level, due to the place it occupies in the city and its fabric and the institutional image it reflects.
- the architectural level, around the notions of generosity, openness, modernity and poetry, but also rationality, durability and economic performance.
- the environmental level, based on a bioclimatic approach and respect for its environment, in particular through the implementation of a natural night-time cooling system.
