Construction of housing for ownership.

A hospital once stood on the site, a high-density, compact unit. In designing the new exposed concrete structure, the architects were inspired by the image of a block of white marble, ready to be sculpted. Weaving student residences and public housing into the urban fabric, it is a reflection of the past and a new stratum in the city’s history. To the south, two towers, Sulfur City by Devin & Bentz and, further on, La Méditerranée, designed by Guy Daher, stand as a testament to modernity. On the other hand, the historic buildings closer to the site are just a few stories high and feature beloved traditional elements: stone, tiled roofs, paint weathered by time and charming finishings. For the eastern, western and northern façades surrounded by these classic structures, La City has been limited to just five to nine floors. On the southern side, however, it soars to fifteen stories, echoing the ambitious constructions of the 1960s and 1970s. Borrowing from turn-of-the-century buildings, the edifice has vertical windows on the lower floors, along with wooden shutters and blinds. These subtle touches seamlessly blend the distant and recent past with the present, an effort that continues into the street outside. Rolling down a slight but pronounced slope, the narrow road winds through the space past small terraced gardens.
